Our Podcast
Disney Diving: The Breaking of Traditional Gender Roles
Me and my excellent groupmate have made a podcast about our topic in this class. We focused on Disney movies and the traditional gender role.
Pre-Production
Find sources
The frist thing that i did to prepare the podcast is to get fimilar with the topic. I searched on the internet and found some article and podcast about this topic, the disney movies and gender value. I learned how the writers and speakers arrange thier articles or podcasts.
Set the role
After all of our groupmates understand the main topic, we assigned our roles in this podcast project. Each one has 3-5 minutes of talk and some other chole. My job is to focus on the star wars series and build the microsite.
Decide the segments
After we distribute our job, We need to design the whole structure of our podcast. We break our podcast into 3 segments and each segment is 7-8 minites long. We deceded our sub-topics and designed how will our conversiation go.
Production
Wirte the script
In order to have a smooth record, we write our own script before the record. We set the way our argument will be developed and supported. And also write some sentences to remind us while speaking.
Zoom record
I and my groupmate meet in a zoom meeting and start our record. Since we are all pretty nervous, we try it again and again. The record lasts for about 5 hours.
Audio editing
After we finish the record, we need to edit our audio file and make it a podcast. We selected 4 pieces of music and added them to the podcast. And cut back all our hesitates and pauses.
Looking Ahead
Mistake I made
In the podcast, we need to include 3 sources. However, in the first record, I only include 1. I realized after the meeting. So we need to record again. I learn that I need to schedule more carefully before taking the action.
What I've learned
In this project, I learned a lot about cooperation. First, when we decide our roles, I learned teamwork and how to distribute the job regard everyone's competence. After that, in the zoom meeting, I learn how to communicate with my teammate. That's all necessary and useful skills in our future work.
Podcast to essay
Before I record the podcast with my groupmates, I was mainly focused on Iron man in my essay. The podcast and my groupmates provide me a lot more ways to discuss the idea of Disney movies and gender roles. We discuss from Marvel to Star Wars. This provides me a bigger picture of my topic.
